Oktober]] [[1736]] in Ettal) war Professor an der [[Benediktineruniversität Salzburg]] und Abt des [[Benediktinerabtei Ettal|Klosters Ettal]].<br /> ==Leben==<br /> Matthäus Seitz ( auch:Seiz) studierte Philosophie und legte am [[23. Juli]] [[1690]] im Kloster Ettal seine Ordensgelübde ab und nahm den Ordensnamen Placidus an. Am [[10. Oktober]] [[1695]] zum Priester geweiht. Nach der Weihe promovierte er in Salzburg zum Doktor der Theologie. Er war 1699 Professor für Syntax am [[Akademisches Gymnasium|Akademischen Gymnasium]], 1700 bis 1702 Professor für die Humanioria. 1702 bis 1705 unterrichtete er dort Rhetorik und war bis 1707 Praefectus Scholarum .<br /> <br /> [[1705]] unterrichtete er an der philosophischen Fakultät Ethik, 1706 bis 1708 Kontroverstheologie an der theologischen Fakultät. Im Jahre [[1709]] wurde er zum Abt des Klosters Ettal gewählt. 1712 bis 1714 stand er in dieser Eigenschaft dem Präsidium der Benediktineruniversität vor, von 1715 bis 1717 war einer der 4 Assistenten.
